It's National Eye Health Week!

This week, we are focusing on the importance of taking care of our vision. There are over 2 million people living with sight loss in the UK, approximately half of these conditions could have been prevented.

Here are some quick tips on keeping yourself, and your eyes healthy!

• Regular check-ups: Early detection is key for treating many conditions such as Glaucoma. Make sure to schedule regular eye exams to catch potential problems before they worsen. Eye tests can also pick up other conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and more.

• Healthy habits: Nourish your eyes with a varied/balanced diet, making sure you get enough sleep, and taking frequent breaks from screens.

• Protect yourself from the sun: Wear sunglasses specifically with UV protection to shield your eyes from harmful rays that cause damage over time.

• Stop Smoking: If you’re a smoker, make serious considerations in stopping. Studies show smoking increases the risk of age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
