Bus Company Advises People to Avoid Public Transport

This week The Partially Sighted Society received a communication from our local bus company advising people to avoid public transport where possible.

For many people with sight loss the main form of transport is either a bus or train. This can be challenging at the best of times and now with social distancing measures on buses and trains, the challenge is even greater.

How do you know how distant 2 metres is when you can’t see? Or where you can or can’t sit on a bus or train?

We have been advised that drivers and conductors will help people with a visual impairment so it may help to also have a visible form of identification in form of a badge, armband or lanyard along with any journey assistance cards to make sure that help is forthcoming.
