Helping people with a visual impairment
HOW CAN WE HELP?
The Partially Sighted Society is a registered charity that was formed in 1971 to provide high quality information, advice, support, training, equipment and clear print material for the benefit of people with a visual impairment to help them make the best possible use of their sight.
Please give us a call if you, or someone you know has a vision problem and would like some help and advice. You do not need to be registered as visually impaired to access our service.
PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE BANK HOLIDAY - MONDAY 29 MAY 2017

New project .....'A cuppa with .....'
PSS recently received a small grant to help fund some informal sessions we are calling 'A cuppa with ....'.
These sessions will be mainly health related with a relevant health provisional (or two or more in some cases) there to sit and chat and talk about their particular subject, what's new, what help is available etc. Participants can ask those questions they have been itching to ask. Watch this space for more on this project!

We have lots happening over the coming months with groups and events and would like to invite anyone with any type of visual impairment, their family, friends or carers to come along to anything they may be interested in. Peer support is one of the most helpful and confidence building support networks and knowing you are not the only one is always good. We have had many new friendships come out of our groups. But other people just like to attend to find out what's going on, have a natter with new colleagues, enjoy a cup of tea and just get out of the house. As long as you are happy, so are we!
BLACK TIE SUMMER BALL - AT THE EARL OF DONCASTER ON FRIDAY 9 JUNE
An amazing night was had by all!! So far from our donations to our auction and raffle on the night we have raised nearly £2,000. We have also been gifted a large amount of art work which we will be getting valued and putting in an art auction to add to the final amount. All monies raised will be put towards a vehicle we will be purchasing which will be multi purpose. Firstly, we will take seats out to make a mobile clinic and take around to church halls, community centres' and health centres' etc in the more rural areas. Secondly, it can be used to transport the more rural socially isolated people with a visual impairment to our groups and events.
We would like to say a big thank you for all supporters, whether they donated or attended the Ball. We feel very blessed to have such great support and long may it continue!!
